The Herbalist, Svetlana Makarovič and Aphra Tesla

Herbalist is a performance, a first-person narrative, a set of poems by Svetlana Makarovič, performed together with sound architect Aphra Tesla. The exchange between Svetlana's poetry and Aphra's work Psalms: Tod mit Vorteil, with an admixture of Slavic and Balkan folk songs, thematises existential and amorous confessions set in the role of the archetypal figure of the woman, who, as the central motif of the performance, is the bearer of knowledge and sanctification.

Svetlana Makarovič appears at the 36th Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts with a selection of poems from her anthology Aloneness. Upon entering each venue, her lyrical voice, dark and direct, bold and sincere, invites us to reflect on the dangers of political hypocrisy, religious dogma and nationalistic nostalgia.

In case of bad weather, the event will be held at MGLC Švicarija.

The exhibition of the 36th Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts will be on view at MGLC Grad Tivoli and Švicarija until 8:00 PM.
